About

Sharliza says:

Like most people I find it hard to get to sleep once in a while. What intrigues me most is that in our fast-paced (developed) world, a proper, 8-hour sleep is increasingly considered a luxury – even unrealistic in some cases. And then there’s the issue about being in bed and not being able to sleep because of various factors like worry, stress, noise, and general health. I’ve teamed up with my ex-collegemate Madoka to explore how we can get to sleep, and get the most of the sleep we do get!

Madoka says:

I learnt the hard way how managing sleep is the key to my well being. My sleep problems began……well when I was born, according to my parents-  then all through my childhood, teenage years and into adulthood, I suffered from sleep related problems. They ranged from periods of hypersomnia, insomnia, confusional arousal to periods when I had multiple nightmares every night (!!)- and the social consequences that follow. Not  to mention people don’t really like being around someone grumpy, tired and lacking in energy and attention.

So you can trust me that I know how you feel when you’ve been tossing and turning in bed, not able to get to sleep, or when you’ve slept more than 12 hours a day for the past few days but still wake up feeling tired. Over the years I decided I need to take control of the situation instead of beating myself up for being “lazy”- so I have been seeing  doctors and specialists, started reading up on ways to achieve restful sleep.

Hopefully we can help you on your journey to a better sleep experience – and while we’re at it, there are different techniques that you can experiment with which are non-invasive, which we would like you to try out. From calming drinks, breathing techniques, essential oils, massages and many others – we will explore and share with you the best of Western and Eastern wisdom has to offer!
